Sarah Bieri | Women's Justice Project | Staff Attorney
Sarah Bieri is from Austin, Texas. After studying film photography and psychology in college, she worked as a barista for several years before deciding to attend law school. Her experience volunteering at a crisis hotline sparked an interest in learning more about how the civil justice gap perpetuates poverty and structural injustice. Sarah began working with justice-involved women and exploring criminal justice reform as a student intern at the Women’s Justice Project. After law school, she served as judicial clerk to the Honorable Patricia L. McGuire at the family law division of Multnomah County Circuit Court. Sarah believes that access to civil legal services during incarceration is essential to improving outcomes upon reentry, and that the public conversation about changing criminal justice policy must center the voices of those most affected.
